How does a hydroponic system work?

Hydroponic plants are grown using a liquid solution of all the nutrients plants need to thrive. The plants’ roots are suspended in the liquid nutrient solution using a growing medium and supplied with oxygen, water, nutrients and light. Hydroponics are usually grown inside a greenhouse or grow tent, but they can also be set up outside.
Is hydroponic gardening expensive?

Setting up your own home hydroponics system is simple and inexpensive. Once you’ve set up your hydroponics kit, your hydroponics garden will be low maintenance, time saving and cost efficient. You’ll also save on groceries by growing your own with ease at home!
Do I need lights?
Your indoor hydroponics setup will require lights to replace sun rays. There is a wide range of lighting types to choose from including:

Yes, you can set up an outdoor hydroponics system. Hydroponic systems are usually contained indoors in greenhouses or grow tents, but you can just as easily create an outdoor hydroponic garden. You’ll still need the same hydroponics supplies as an indoor setup, but rather than using a controlled light source, you’ll rely on natural sunlight.
